The Epona Trust - Zulu

Zulu
Name: Zulu Born: 1992
Height: 16 hands Breed: Warmblood
Gender: Gelding Colour: Chestnut

History

Zulu came to us from a lovely owner who, due to injury, had not been able to ride him for a while. During this time, someone else volunteered to ride him but unfortunately the riding was not good and it upset him badly. He became very fearful and aggressive. As a result of this, people treated him in a rough way.

He came to us in 2006 and became much more mellow. However he still had his moments and always needed to be treated with respect.

Zulu was very good for teaching people how to handle a horse of his type - always keeping a relationship with him going, and never making any assumptions about his compliance.

Zulu was a lovely affectionate horse but with his ability and quickness, he could very easily have become dangerous if mishandled. This is not uncommon as there are many horses like Zulu in the world.

Latest Update

Zulu was very settled, happy, and really enjoying his life. He especially loved hacks out in the New Forest, where he was always the perfect gentleman with other horses (particularly ladies!). Unfortunately on August 22nd 2011, we lost Zulu to colic. He was such a fantastic horse and a huge character, he will be very sadly missed by everyone here at the Epona Trust.
